My volunteering experience

Before participating in this project, I believed that volunteering was mainly about providing short-term help to people. However, after taking part in beach cleanings and environmental activities, I realized that volunteering also plays an important role in protecting nature and raising awareness about the impact of human actions on the environment.

One of the most significant environmental issues today is marine pollution. During beach cleaning activities, volunteers frequently encounter plastic bottles, cigarette butts, fishing equipment, and various other forms of waste. Observing this pollution directly helped me understand the serious threats it poses to marine biology and ocean ecosystems. Marine animals often mistake plastic for food or become trapped in waste materials, which can cause long-term harm to biodiversity and the environment.

In addition, this experience increased my awareness of the importance of recycling and sustainable living. Many individuals dispose of waste without considering whether materials can be reused or recycled. Through this project, I learned that simple actions, such as separating waste correctly and reducing plastic consumption, can contribute significantly to environmental protection when practiced collectively.

Furthermore, volunteering contributes not only to environmental sustainability but also to personal development. Collaborating with people from different countries improved my communication skills, sense of responsibility, and ability to work in an international team environment. It also demonstrated that environmental challenges are global issues that require collective action and cooperation.

In conclusion, projects focused on sustainability, recycling, and marine conservation are highly valuable because they both educate participants and create direct positive impacts on the environment. Even small actions, such as beach cleanings or awareness campaigns on social media, can encourage more people to become involved in protecting nature and supporting a more sustainable future.
