About the project :
The Solidarity Shores project is a team volunteering project.
The project brings young people from different countries together to protect the sea, reduce pollution, and support small fishing communities that are affected by climate change. It focuses on practical action and learning by doing. Volunteers will take part in activities such as restoring coastal and marine areas, helping local artisanal fishers, cleaning beaches, reducing plastic pollution, and finding creative ways to reuse fishing and shellfish waste. These actions will help protect marine life and keep coastal environments healthy for the future. By working alongside local communities, volunteers will learn about traditional fishing practices, sustainability, and teamwork across cultures.
Project Objective :
The main objective is to promote marine conservation and waste management in rural fishing communities affected by climate change through youth volunteering.
Ecological Restoration: Support climate adaptation by restoring marine ecosystems and assisting artisanal fishers in Spain, Portugal, and Turkey.
Waste Management: Coastal clean-ups, shellfish waste composting, and recycling/upcycling activities.
Youth Empowerment: Inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities through practical learning and cross-border solidarity.
Cultural Heritage: Document and showcase traditional fishing practices.
